Made Properly, by Hand

We use traditional joinery: mortise and tenon, dovetails, tongue and groove. No chipboard, no veneer, no pocket screws. The joints are cut with hand tools and fitted dry before glue-up, the way furniture was made before factories replaced workshops.

This approach takes longer. A dining table might spend three weeks in the workshop. But the result is furniture that tightens with age rather than loosening, and that can be repaired or refinished decades from now without replacing a single component.

Why Choose The Oak Craftsman

I

Sustainably Sourced

All timber comes from managed English woodlands within 40 miles of the workshop. We buy in log form and mill it ourselves.

II

Designed Around You

Every commission starts with a conversation. We sketch, prototype, and refine until the design fits your space and your life.

III

Built to Be Repaired

Traditional joinery means any component can be replaced or restored without dismantling the whole piece. These are fifty-year furnishings, minimum.
